I like tunnels. Or at least the perception of tunnels. The pattern that is created by looking THROUGH things…like the triangles at the park. I don’t know what the appeal is. Maybe it’s the other side.  Or setting goals.

I just enjoy the pattern created by some things. I mean looking under this bridge makes me want to skip a rock or just sit and watch the water reflect off the bottom.

And finally the hallway at the state capital in Austin, Texas. Another example of lining things up I suppose.

That last photograph may be hard to see. I’ll keep at it. – I’m learning more every day.  (Like I need a new lens *wink* *hint*)

Magic Hands…

30 07 2009

Magic hands that touch the strings to make the sounds that stir the soul to write and fill the world with music. I have such wonderful friends that have taught me so much. For that I’m truly thankful. Life just wouldn’t be life without being able to play and make music with my friends.

The Best Car Wash in Georgetown, Texas

23 07 2009

I really feel I should say something about this place because it is different. But you can’t tell it’s different unless you go there.

Car Pool Car Wash

Everyone has been to a car wash. You swipe your card – the mechanical voice tells you to drive in and this machine goes to work on your car. Well, it’s like that at the Car Pool Car Wash except when the attendant is on duty.

After you swipe your card, and you purchase at least the Deluxe Wash, the attendant pre-washes your vehicle and checks around for heavy dirt. He will also watch the machine and if he feels it’s not getting everything he will get IN TO THE CAR WASH with a brush WHILE THE MACHINE IS RUNNING and scrub on your vehicle to make sure it is clean.

I’ve never seen this and I feel it goes beyond the call of customer service. So I’m posting a map – it’s just down to the left on Austin Ave from Leander Rd. – the address is: 2020 S Austin Ave, Georgetown, TX‎. and here is the map if it posts to my blog right.

Tell him Bob’s Blahg sent ya if ya like.

Peace, Love, and Clean Cars,

Early Morning Austin…

19 07 2009

I had a chance to relax and get out early and went to downtown Austin – the corner of Riverside and 1st to be exact. Where you would think folks would be sleeping. Not in Austin.

Morning Run

Folks are out running and biking and excercising their dogs – it’s amazing. The photo ops are unbelievable in this beautiful city that I call home.

City Life

The photo’s I really want to share are of a Herron that spied a good fishing spot in the river. He was GORGEOUS.

Morning Phoenix

He was hopping around and acting crazy so I just started shooting. I was a lucky man for the photographs I captured.

Bird Dive

And the wonderful bird caught his breakfast with ease.

Chow Time

I continued around the park – I had an awesome time with a good friend taking all the photos I could.
In the “Leash Free Zone” a favorite past time is playing fetch with your dog. There were lots of dogs, all playing and running and jumping in to the river to retrieve tennis balls thrown by their masters.
Throw it Now

It has been one hot summer with temps over 100 but people still get out and bike and jog. There are tables set up under the bridge with ice water (which kept me going to tell the truth)

Thirst Quencher
I just don’t know how these people hustled in the heat! – But I still love central Texas. Heat and all. The people are worth it.
Speed Racer
Your Turn
So there you have it. Beautiful scenery, Beautiful people, Beautiful Music (BTW I really like Stevie Ray Vaughn):

It’s also a perfect place for portraits. So if you’re in Austin go down to 1st and Riverside and watch the dogs fetch, the people canoe, bike and run and take some awesome photos of a beautiful place

The Love of Traffic…

16 07 2009

You gotta love the traffic. I cannot figure out why all of these people have to get on the highway when there is no one on the backstreets. 5 MPH for 2 miles. Lots of time to think. Sure puts some serious wear-and-tear on the ole’ vehicle though. *sigh*. And you have to love the 103 degrees of sunshine to go along with the traffic.

Beautiful Traffic
I sure hope there is a restaraunt at the next exit. All this sitting and sweating has made me hungry.
At least I can pull out my camera and take cool blahg photo’s. What do you think?
Peace, Love, and I Love A/C,

Adding Up…

8 07 2009

Some things in life don’t always add up. I’m on the river bank. I look up. I then have a “Sesame Street” moment and begin to count. I count again. I then decide to pull out my camera and save it for later over a few beers. As for now. I’m relaxing on the river.

Peace, Love, and Counting Toes,

Happy Independence Day…

7 07 2009

I just wanted to wish everyone a happy (though belated) Independence Day. God Bless America. I hope everyone was able to enjoy the “Rocket’s Red Glare” over the weekend and stayed safe. Make sure you thank a Soldier, Airman, Marine, Sailor, or Veteran and let them know you appreciate them for serving our country.

Peace, Love, and Patriotism,

What Next…

28 06 2009

The dreaded phone call. “Due to current economic conditions we must inform you that you will be laid off from your position with…” So, here I am turning yet another corner on the road that is my life with nothing behind me save my shadow.

Turn the Corner

I’ll miss working there. Wonderful people and work environment even when it was stressful. Unfortunately they do the same thing in Bangalor cheaper, apparently. I’m not bitter.

So what does a jack of all trades do? I’m thinking hard about it. I’m not really an “expert” at anything but I do alot of everything.

Further Down the Road
I can build a computer from spare parts; Play an average guitar; Decent photographer; Creative; Office Administrator; Former Soldier; Family Man with a big heart; Can learn anything quickly when my heart’s in it. Even fly a plane (still paying for one lesson at a time- this is going to take awhile).

So I’m throwing my resume back in to the piles of the many HR Representatives around central Texas in hopes that mine will land on top somewhere. I’m even thinking about printing some of my photographs and selling them in the local coffee shop. Ya never know.

So the sun sets on another day of gathering prospective employers for my assault on the workplace tomorrow. Resume work, lists, Google maps and phone numbers. I’ll be ok.

Peace, Love, and Hit the Ground Running,

Bucket List…

24 06 2009

I saw the movie Bucket List with Jack Nicholsen and began trying to think what i would like to accomplish before I, myself, kick the bucket.
For one thing. I would like to get a motorcycle. Maybe not like the one pictured here, but a Harley would be nice.

The Fast Commute

Another item on my Bucket list would be to learn to fly. Well. I already know HOW to fly. I just want to get a Pilot License so I can do it when I want to. I love aircraft and flying.

Down Below

I also want to take a gajillion pictures (Not sure how to spell Gajillion). I love Austin, Texas. Maybe I could get a job photographing Austin. That would be awesome. Here is the Austin Skyline:

Austin Skyline

I hope you enjoy coming here. I’ll try to update it more often.

Peace, Love, and Buckets,
